EPA Dose Response Analysis in Chemical Risk Assessment - Using BMD approach, CSAF and Dosimetry Adjustment for Human Health Risk Assessment

Description
The course is designed to provide an in-depth training on dose response analysis in chemical risk assessment. The participants will learn all aspects of dose response assessment, and practice the skills learned in the classroom. Upon completing the course, the participants will be able to derive and evaluate risk values and supporting documentation for dose response analysis in non-cancer and cancer risk assessments.

Objectives

At the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Know when BMD modeling is appropriate for cancer and non-cancer dose-response assessment
  • Use the EPAs BMDS software, and learn know how to select an appropriate model and appropriate data to model
  • Conduct benchmark modeling, and select an appropriate BMD as the point of departure for use in a human health risk assessment
  • Understand the IPCS methodology for CSAF development, including the thinking process and steps used for evaluating data
  • Conduct basic dosimetric adjustments
  • Work with the various techniques and necessary software to conduct all the dosimetric adjustment in typical non-cancer and cancer risk assessments

Who may attend:   The target audience for this course is DTEM staff, DHAC staff and Cooperative Agreement partners, and if space is available, other ATSDR and NCEH staff, CDC staff and external partners.

Accommodations:   Reservations must be made by individual attendees directly with the hotel. You may need to bring a tax exemption form to avoid paying additional state taxes. Discuss what documentation the hotel will accept from your state for tax exempt purposes when you make the reservation. Also, discuss what forms of payment the hotel will accept. Transportation:   The AAA Airport Express (404-767-2000 or 800-354-7874) can be used to travel between the hotel and airport. The cost is at least $35 one-way. Rates and schedules are available online at AAA Airport Express. You should call ahead of time to schedule transportation. If you do not wish to use this service, a taxi or rental car will be needed for transportation. You may want to check with your hotel too to see if they offer gratis shuttle service.

Continuing Education Certification

  Continuing education credits may be offered for various professions based on interest and number of hours of instruction. Requirements: In order to get continuing education credits if they are offered or a course completion certificate with the number of contact hours you must fill out an online course evaluation form. Note that you must be present for the entire course time designated in the agenda to receive Continuing Education credits or a course completion certificate.
